It is indeed important to give the correct diagnosis and treatment, but in addition it is also important to make sure the misconceptions regarding the causation of illness are put to rest. She thinks I had a perfect childhood (which did have a pretty good one, just not the best) and she doesn't understand how this could happen. Another thing my Mom will do is compare our family to others. She say all the time, "How come so and so has six kids and there is nothing wrong with them, but I have one and this has to happen?"
